1. The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has teamed up with the Gates Foundation and Dalberg Advisors to start the National Climate Stack Innovation Challenge. The goal is to make India’s climate resilience framework stronger for rural areas. The goal of the project is to create the basic technological layers of a National Climate Stack that will combine different climate datasets and make climate intelligence more useful for agriculture, rural finance, and public planning.

2. The 21st Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META) 2026 will give the Lifetime Achievement Award to Amol Palekar, a veteran actor, director, and theater professional. A group of Indian Armed Forces soldiers has come to Seychelles to take part in the 11th edition of the joint military exercise “Lamitiye 2026.” The Seychelles Defence Academy is hosting the exercise with the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) from March 9 to March 20. The project is a sign of the growing defense cooperation between India and Seychelles and aims to improve the way the two countries’ armed forces work together.

6. Reports say that the US is thinking about taking Iran’s Kharg Island to limit Tehran’s oil income as tensions rise in the Middle East. A new report from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) says that India is still the world’s second-largest arms importer, even though defense imports have gone down slightly in recent years. The report talks about how India’s defense procurement is changing as the country slowly adds more suppliers and tries to become more self-sufficient in making military equipment. India still relies heavily on foreign suppliers for key defense platforms and technologies, even though imports fell by about 4% between 2016 and 2020 and 2021 and 2025.

1. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, opened two new lines of the Delhi Metro. The Pink Line’s Majlis Park–Maujpur-Babarpur corridor and the Magenta Line’s Deepali Chowk–Majlis Park extension are both part of the opening. The expansion should make it much easier to get around between north and northeast Delhi, and it should also make the metro system stronger.

The method uses a chemical reaction that is triggered by light to break down plastic materials into useful compounds without needing very high temperatures or dangerous chemicals.

3. On the cliffs of Santa Cruz Beach in Torres Vedras, Portugal, scientists have found a rare nest with ten dinosaur eggs that are about 150 million years old. Carlos Natário, a researcher at the Centre for Research in Paleobiology and Paleoecology (Ci2Paleo), which is part of the Torres Vedras Natural History Society, found the nest. The find gives us more information about how dinosaurs reproduced and the ecosystems that existed in the area long ago.

1. India has put forward a draft ministerial declaration at the World Trade Organization (WTO) asking for stronger promises to send advanced technologies to developing and least developed countries. 1. Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers J. P. Nadda talked about how the government is working to make India’s bio-pharmaceutical and chemical industries stronger by making big budgetary changes. He spoke at a post-Budget webinar on “Sustaining and Strengthening Economic Growth” and said that the ₹13,000 crore set aside for Bio-Pharma SHAKTI and the building of three dedicated chemical parks show that India is making a long-term investment in its industrial and healthcare future. The project fits with Viksit Bharat’s bigger goals and aims to make India more competitive in the global market for high-value pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing.

केंद्रीय रसायने आणि खते मंत्री जे. पी. नड्डा यांनी अर्थसंकल्पात मोठे बदल करून भारताच्या जैव-औषध आणि रासायनिक उद्योगांना अधिक मजबूत करण्यासाठी सरकार कसे काम करत आहे याबद्दल सांगितले. “शाश्वत आणि आर्थिक विकास मजबूत करणे” या विषयावरील अर्थसंकल्पानंतरच्या वेबिनारमध्ये ते म्हणाले की, बायो-फार्मा शक्तीसाठी राखून ठेवलेले १३,००० कोटी रुपये आणि तीन समर्पित रासायनिक उद्यानांची उभारणी हे दर्शवते की भारत त्याच्या औद्योगिक आणि आरोग्यसेवा भविष्यात दीर्घकालीन गुंतवणूक करत आहे. हा प्रकल्प विकसित भारतच्या मोठ्या उद्दिष्टांशी जुळतो आणि उच्च-मूल्याच्या औषध आणि रासायनिक उत्पादनासाठी जागतिक बाजारपेठेत भारताला अधिक स्पर्धात्मक बनवण्याचे उद्दिष्ट ठेवतो.

2. A big leak of dangerous oleum gas at a chemical factory in Maharashtra’s Palghar district caused panic and led officials to evacuate more than 2,600 people as a safety measure. The event took place at a Bhageria Industries Ltd. unit in the Boisar MIDC industrial area, which is on the outskirts of Mumbai. Strong winds quickly spread a thick cloud of white smoke over a wide area, affecting places within a five-kilometer radius and raising concerns about public safety.

महाराष्ट्रातील पालघर जिल्ह्यातील एका रासायनिक कारखान्यात धोकादायक ऑलियम वायूची मोठी गळती झाल्याने घबराट पसरली आणि सुरक्षेचा उपाय म्हणून अधिकाऱ्यांना २,६०० हून अधिक लोकांना सुरक्षित ठिकाणी हलवावे लागले. ही घटना मुंबईच्या बाहेरील बोईसर एमआयडीसी औद्योगिक क्षेत्रातील भगेरिया इंडस्ट्रीज लिमिटेडच्या युनिटमध्ये घडली. जोरदार वाऱ्यांमुळे मोठ्या भागात पांढरे धुराचे दाट ढग पसरले, ज्यामुळे पाच किलोमीटरच्या परिघातील ठिकाणी परिणाम झाला आणि सार्वजनिक सुरक्षेबाबत चिंता निर्माण झाली.

Under the Vision 2047 framework, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, India’s Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, stressed the country’s commitment to building tourism destinations that are globally competitive, sustainable, and focused on the community. At the UN Tourism Minister’s Summit in Berlin in 2026, he talked about India’s plan for responsible and inclusive tourism growth. The minister said that the country’s tourism policy is based on the idea of “Growth with Responsibility,” which means that economic growth should be balanced with protecting the environment and preserving culture.

4. Reports say that Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, the son of Iran’s long-time Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, will be the next Supreme Leader after his father died in a joint US-Israel strike. Reports say that Iran’s powerful Assembly of Experts chose Mojtaba to take over the job, making him the head of Iran’s political and religious leadership during a time of rising tensions in the region.

5. At the Schöningen archaeological site in Lower Saxony, Germany, scientists found genetic material that is about 200,000 years old. The find goes against what scientists have thought for a long time about where ancient DNA can live. Researchers used to think that genetic material this old could only be kept in very cold places like permafrost or deep caves. But the DNA that was just found lived in sediments that were open to the air and changing weather for thousands of years. The study, which was published in “Nature Ecology & Evolution,” says that ancient DNA can stay intact for much longer than scientists thought possible under certain chemical conditions.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has added a new facilitation measure for trusted manufacturers in line with the Union Budget 2026–27 announcement by the Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs. The program allows a new group of importers called Eligible Manufacturer Importers (EMIs) to pay their customs duties later. Circular No. 08/2026-Customs, dated February 28, 2026, has given out detailed instructions.

The Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu (Transtan) is in charge of the program. They have built a structured and open system over the past 20 years. Officials say that the steady rise is due to coordinated governance, public trust, and the use of technology.

6. Scientists have found fossils of Earth’s oldest animals in rocks that are more than 541 million years old. This pushes back the timeline of complex life. The find suggests that soft-bodied sea sponges were some of the first animals to live in the oceans of the Earth, long before the Cambrian explosion. The results show that some biological traits found in modern sponges were also present in these old organisms.
