1. Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired the 26th Eastern Zonal Meeting in Patna.The Zonal Councils are an important platform to resolve bilateral, multilateral and regional issues through dialogue among member states.

4. Thailand and Myanmar will set up a task force to boost humanitarian assistance to people displaced by fighting between the Junta army and rebel groups. The decision was taken during discussions between Myanmar and Thailand’s foreign ministers at a meeting in China.

6. A recent analysis by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) has revealed that less than eight percent of India’s coal-based power plants have adopted the recommended technology to control sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions.

7. A new United Nations report, “State of Finance for Nature,” reveals that countries invest nearly $7 trillion annually in subsidies and private investments with direct negative impacts on nature. This staggering figure accounts for 7% of the global gross domestic product, highlighting the urgent need for a shift in financial practices.

8. The Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) organized the formal launch of the National Awards for e-Governance (NAeG) 2024 web portal on 8th December, 2023. 1. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has proposed an action plan aimed at significantly reducing emissions from the global cooling sector in its recent report titled “Keeping it Chill: How to meet cooling demands while cutting emissions.”

2. Government of India has made a significant move in the Mining Sector by launching the first-ever auction of critical minerals, offering 20 blocks for sale to Private Sectors.

5. India has announced a USD 250 million line of credit to Kenya for modernisation of its agricultural sector during the recent visit of Kenya’s President to India. A line of credit (LOC) is a predetermined borrowing limit that is accessible whenever necessary. The borrower can withdraw funds as required until reaching the established limit, and once repaid, the funds can be borrowed again in the case of an open line of credit.
