1. With the Chinese H-alpha Solar Explorer (CHASE) camera, Chinese scientists have found a new way for the sun’s atmosphere to spin. The prestigious journal Nature Astronomy says that this new finding is the first true three-dimensional picture of how the atmosphere of the sun spins.

1. The Vaccine Alliance (Gavi) recently showed more support for adding rabies medicines for people to normal immunisation programmes, with a focus on post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). The MMNM plan has been given Rs. 1,500 crore over five years by the Assam government, with Rs. 300 crore set aside for the first year.

1. An junior professor at the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Centre named Dr. Michael Gottlieb started the search for AIDS by mistake at the start of 1981. The patient had pneumocystis pneumonia, a rare illness that makes people lose weight quickly and for no obvious reason. Dr. Gottlier asked a post-doc to look at the patient while he was teaching immunology. Like the first case, five more were added to the study, which led to a major piece in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. This was the first written record of what it was before it was known as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).

This species has been introduced to numerous river systems, resulting in its widespread presence in numerous reservoirs and tanks throughout India.
