2. Tyre major CEAT, the flagship company of the RPG Group, signed a MoU with the Tamil Nadu State government to invest Rs.4,000 crore in a greenfield plant in Sriperumbudur near Chennai to boost the State’s tyre manufacturing capacity.

2. The Union cabinet approved the Higher Education Funding Agency (HEFA) to allot Rs.1 lakh crore for research and infrastructure in the educational institutions by 2022.

6. The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) Prakash Javadekar proposed a draft bill to repeal the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act of 1956 and set up the Higher Education Commission of India (HECI), a move that aims to reform higher education in India.

10. After US re-imposed sanctions against Iran after it withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal, India is planning to cut oil imports from Iran, and replacing them with more purchases from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

2. The US and Russia have reached an agreement to hold the summit between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in a “third country”, at a date to be announced.
