1. Starting April 1, 2024, the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in several areas of Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland will be extended for another six months by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The decision was made after assessing the level of law and order in these states located in the northeast.

5. The annual India TB report reveals that there has been a 16% reduction in tuberculosis (TB) cases in India from 2015 to 2022, which is higher than the global fall of 9%.
The India TB Report 2024 from the National TB Elimination Programme revealed that last year, a total of 25.55 lakh cases of TB were reported, which is the largest number since the inception of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) in the 1960s.

7. According to the Global Methane Tracker 2024 by the International Energy Agency, methane emissions from fuel consumption in 2023 reached almost their highest level ever recorded, showing a modest rise compared to 2022.

1. The Indian Central government has officially announced the establishment of a fact-checking unit (FCU) inside the Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The FCU has been created to oversee information on social media platforms pertaining to the government’s affairs, in accordance with the newly revised Information Technology Rules.

2. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Pakistan have reached a staff-level agreement regarding the discharge of $1.1 billion of a $3 billion bailout package. The funds, which are essential for the indebted nation to prevent a sovereign default, will be disbursed prior to the expiration of the current agreement on April 11, 2023, following approval by the IMF executive board. Following five days of negotiations between the IMF and the newly elected government of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad, the announcement was made.
