1. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest accolades in Indian film, is presented to veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty. This esteemed prize honours a lifetime of film industry service by an individual. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw made the announcement; the prize will formally be bestowed on October 8, 2024, during the 70th National Film Awards event. This follows just after Chakraborty was given yet another great honor—the Padma Bhushan, among India’s highest civilian honours.

By year 2029, quadruple cruise passenger traffic is expected.

People in some areas of South America will therefore be able to witness the Moon cover the centre of the Sun, leaving a brilliant ring around the margins akin to a “ring of fire.” People will see a partial solar eclipse, when just half of the Sun will be obscured by the Moon, in other parts of the world including North America and regions around the Pacific Ocean. India will regretfully not be able to see this eclipse.

1. Nagpur, Maharashtra’s Oxygen Bird Park (Amrit Mahotsav Park) was recently opened by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. Along the Nagpur-Hyderabad National Highway-44, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) created this eco-friendly project.

नागपूर, महाराष्ट्रातील ऑक्सिजन बर्ड पार्क (अमृत महोत्सव पार्क) नुकतेच रस्ते वाहतूक आणि महामार्ग मंत्रालयाने उघडले. नागपूर-हैदराबाद राष्ट्रीय महामार्ग-44 वर, भारतीय राष्ट्रीय महामार्ग प्राधिकरणाने (NHAI) हा पर्यावरणपूरक प्रकल्प तयार केला आहे.

2. China did not agree with the recent name change of a hill in Arunachal Pradesh to “Tsangyang Gyatso Peak” in honour of the 6th Dalai Lama, Tsangyang Gyatso.
China said that the name of the peak was wrong and that it was happening on “Chinese territory.”सहाव्या दलाई लामा, त्सांगयांग ग्यात्सो यांच्या सन्मानार्थ अरुणाचल प्रदेशातील एका टेकडीचे अलीकडेच नाव बदलून “त्सांगयांग ग्यात्सो पीक” हे चीनला मान्य नव्हते.

5. The 57th meeting of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) Executive Committee (EC) recently cleared important projects in several states.

1. An important initiative to enhance water management for farming and drinking between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh is the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP). 1. Many developing countries and least developed countries (LDCs) have strongly supported India’s proposals at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) calling for rules on fisheries subsidies.

1. On December 4, 2024, the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2024 will take place with the objective of assessing the academic performance of school pupils in India. An increase from the 3.7 million students assessed in the most recent survey in 2021, approximately five million students from Classes 3, 6, and 9 will be evaluated in this year’s survey.

2. The Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) is an informal initiative that comprises the United States, Japan, Australia, and India. In order to assist Ukraine in its recovery from the ongoing conflict with Russia, which commenced in February 2022, the European Union (EU) has committed to providing a loan of up to ₹35 billion (approximately $39 billion). The G7 nations, a group of the world’s largest economies, are coordinating a broader financial aid package to provide assistance to Ukraine during this challenging period. This loan is a component of this package.

4. Jordan has been officially recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as the first country in the world to eradicate leprosy. Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organisation, commended Jordan for its collective endeavours to combat the stigma associated with the disease and halt its transmission.

In an effort to fortify India’s dairy sector, Union Minister Amit Shah implemented “White Revolution 2.0.” This initiative expands upon the success of Operation Flood, which began in 1970 and revolutionised the dairy industry through cooperative societies. India became one of the world’s greatest milk producers as a result of Operation Flood.

केंद्रीय मंत्री अमित शहा यांनी भारताच्या दुग्धव्यवसाय क्षेत्राला अधिक बळकट करण्यासाठी “श्वेतक्रांती 2.0” सादर केला. हा उपक्रम 1970 मध्ये सुरू झालेल्या ऑपरेशन फ्लडच्या यशावर आधारित आहे आणि सहकारी संस्थांच्या माध्यमातून डेअरी उद्योगाचा कायापालट झाला. ऑपरेशन फ्लडमुळे भारत जगातील सर्वात मोठा दूध उत्पादक देश बनला.

6. India’s space exploration plans were recently authorised by the Union Cabinet, which also approved several significant measures. Among these are the construction of the Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS), the launch of the Chandrayaan-4 mission to collect lunar samples, and the preparation for India’s inaugural mission to Venus. Prime Minister Narendra Modi defined this as a significant milestone, with the objective of establishing a self-sustaining space station by 2035 and conducting a manned moon mission by 2040.
