1. For the 16th BRICS Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to Kazan, Russia. This summit comes after the group’s growth the previous year. Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates are currently members of the BRICS alliance.

7. India has launched its fourth nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine from the Ship Building Center (SBC) in Visakhapatnam.

1. Google announced a historic contract to buy nuclear energy from Kairos Power’s small modular reactors (SMRs). This is the first business transaction of its sort. By 2030, the first SMR should be up and running, adding 500 MW of carbon-free electricity to the US electrical system. Google wants to use this energy to promote significant scientific advancements and AI technology.

1. According to the Fraser Institute’s Economic Freedom of the World study, Hong Kong has surpassed Singapore to reclaim its position as the world’s most free economy. Given that previous surveys indicated a deterioration in Hong Kong’s economic freedoms, this rating is particularly significant.

Five important road segments in Ladakh, including one to Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO), have been authorized by the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) standing committee. Four of these routes go through Karakoram Wildlife Sanctuary.

Road segments with requirements to undertake wildlife passage plans in order to save species in the Karakoram sanctuary were authorized by the NBWL.

5. The National Conference’s Omar Abdullah was just sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir’s Union Territory (UT).

1. To deter businesses from engaging in greenwashing—that is, fraudulent environmental claims—the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) in India has instituted new regulations. Companies today have to offer scientific evidence for any environmental claims they make.

1. The Global starvation Index (GHI) is an annual report that assesses the extent of starvation and malnutrition in countries across the globe. Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe established it to demonstrate the severity of starvation in various nations and to assist in the identification of strategies for its mitigation. The index employs a scale of 0 to 100, with 0 representing no appetite and 100 representing acute hunger. India is ranked 105th out of 127 countries in the 2024 report, with a score of 27.3. India is classified as a country that is experiencing “serious” starvation levels as a result of this score.

7. Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan has initiated the establishment of an iGOT Lab (Integrated Government Online Training Lab) within the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
